The Department of Mathematics in T.B.M.L College, Porayar, traces its genesis in 1972 when the college was inaugurated with Pre-University classes. This supremely beautiful sculpture, the Queen of all Sciences, grew to shape in 1976 with Undergraduate studies in B.Sc. Mathematics. It took nine years to become fully matured in 1985 when the Department bloomed as a Postgraduate teaching hub with achievements of laurels in the form of University Rank holders, and other ranks. With steady polishing and beautification by the impeccable efforts of its Staff, the Department started yielding research fruition when Part-Time and Full-Time Research facilities were established in 2005 with the starting of Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy portals for satisfying research oriented and thirsty minds who desired to delve deep in the ocean of Mathematics. Today, during the Golden Jubilee Year of this prestigious Institution, the Department of Mathematics boasts of having produced 50 Ph.D. awardees and around 350 M.Phil. masters besides thousands of UG and PG Degree holders who replicate knowledge in India and abroad blowing the successful trumpet of the achievements of the Department. Our Pride, Our Alumni stalwarts, stands as living monuments preaching the Gospel of Mathematics at all levels -Schools, Colleges, Universities and in multifarious walks of life around the world.
