The Department of Biochemistry, in view of the growing importance of Biochemistry, both as a science as well as a broad based discipline in the Department of Chemistry, came into existence in T.B.M.L. College in 1997. Having started with B.Sc., a self-financed course, the department engenders perseverance and sincerity in all its students with all efforts made to deepen the practical knowledge of biochemistry and to develop a scientific temper. It is a vibrant division of the college with a qualified teaching staff. The Department is proud to have produced more than 5000 young Biochemistry graduates in the last 24 years of enthusiastic academic service. It is committed to be a learning community, sharing one’s knowledge with everyone and with the wider world. It is focused on the future of humanity to improve the health and the quality of life of people everywhere. The department offers a congenial environment for the development of knowledge and for the individual growth. The hard work of the professors, who are the pillars of the department are excellent and unstoppable in providing educational services with dedication. We are pleased to announce that the undergraduate students in our Biochemistry department have been ranked in the top 10 at the university level in various academic years. They have also passed various competitive examinations and entrance examinations and have been working in top companies both in home land and abroad. In addition, the alumni of the department have become researchers in many countries and in India. Although the department is the youngest member of the college family, the growth is at an astounding pace day by day, training the next generation of the scientists with a balanced approach towards pedagogy and hands-on learning.
